About Me
My mother used to say that from the moment I learned to walk, I was walking the other way. This statement did not just end up applying to my life, but also my writing.
I am a Puerto Rican Bronx native (Nuyorican, if you will) who has lived in New York, Eugene, London, Berlin, Prague and Cornwall. My husband and I currently live in Somerset with our three wonderful cats.
I am influenced by urban and rural landscapes and the influence they have on interconnected lives of people in an increasingly globalised world. I love to explore the small moments that bring humanity to impersonal surroundings and the experiences that guide us through life and shape who we are. In addition to fiction, I enjoy writing articles about the writer experience, how we engage with memory, films and music. I also love exploring the ways in which the written word is intertwined with the visual arts.
I am grateful to my Facebook followers for a Q & A which you can read here. It was a great opportunity to share with my readers what they wanted to know about me and my writing.
You can see more info on my published and upcoming publications here. For reviews, interviews or questions, please contact me here.
In addition to writing, my previous employment history includes Publishing, Higher Education and IT Administration as well as some more interesting jobs that have found their way into my writing. I have earned degrees from the University of Oregon and Birkbeck College, University of London. I have worked as an Associate Facilitator at Out on the Page and led writing workshops at Penzance LitFest. . I am also a member of the writing network A Tribe Called Story Talk, The Society of Authors and The Alliance of Independent Authors.
Since 2022, I have been a full time carer for my husband who is recovering from cancer.
My other interests include: Reading, History, Interior Design, Collaging, Meditation, Buddhism, Spiritualism, Cinema, Music (of all varieties), Politics, Cooking, language(s) and cat memes.
